A wave and a peep-hole  Contributor's Pick!
One of the passengers offers a friendly wave as I aim to get a shot looking through the "peep-hole" in the middle of this DDA40X. Seen here at MP 648.5, UP Brooklyn Sub.

Brian Miller General This picture really shows the size of this beast. I like the 3rd ladder just behind the cab. 4/19/2008 12:42:57 AM
Ron Moraca General Let's try this again, Charles. The DDA40X was 95'5" long, with a wide-coweled cab, weighed 270 tons, had two 16-cyl GM 645E3A diesel engines that delivered 6600HP, had a fuel tank that held 8,230 gals (30T) of diesel fuel, ran at 90 mph with UP's std high-speed 59:18 gear ratio, and had no snowplow, only angled vertical pilot plates. Whew! 9/19/2008 1:31:27 AM
